Anantnag, May 04 (KNO): The residents of Achabal area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district are facing water scarcity for a long time now and have demanded proper drinking water facility in the locality. The residents of Achabal and its adjacent area informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a vast area of Achabal is facing drinking water shortage for the last several months now but the department has failed to take any positive step in this regard. They said machinery, especially the motor and electricity system is weak for the scheme due to which the people in the area have been suffering badly. Arshid Ahmad, a local resident said that there is a need to upgrade the machinery at the scheme so that the area won't face drinking water shortage on a daily basis. He said that the department has been assuring that the system will be upgraded but nothing is being done on the ground. Sameer Ahmad, another local, said that they have brought this issue into the notice of concerned authorities several times but nothing has been done on the ground.
